  1. So while we wrap up the M17x-R3 review (likely to be combined with the M18x review) we decided to embark on finding a nice template for our video intro. I'm pretty sure we're going to settle on this one, give us your feedback and let us know what you think! EDIT: We have settled on the final cut of the intro video. It's about 8 seconds long, has the full animation of the background scaling larger with the music, single flame and large font. Poll is now closed, thanks to all those that gave their input. 2. Everybody wonders where the 460mGTX compares to the 555. Here is a benchmark from the asus forums to let you know on a base model with the 2630qm and the 460. Result ASUS G73SW Owners' Lounge (wrist slap for pasting NBR link).. sorry had to to provide info Not bad figuring I've already topped 83xx. So the 555 is not far off from the 460. We are not equal by any means, but not far off. BW, StevenX

  4. Re: Suttering This isnt microstutter - microstutter is very very different. Microstutter doesnt actually stutter, so its a bit of a misnomer. Microstutter is when 2 gpu's render their frames too close together, making the output look like almost half of the FPS currently being rendered. This is present on all multi-gpu systems, and can be somewhat rectified with vsync+triple buffer. What you are experiencing is most probably due to your SSDNOW having interrupt stutter, which happens with all jmicron SSDs. There isnt really a fix for this unless you buy expensive HDD caching software (i forget what it was called) or you toss it out. The whole jmicron generation was junk. Switching temporarily to a normal hard disk will show this to be the case. Sorry for your bad luck - whoever sold you the drive, try get a refund. -Ash

  7. From what I've checked, - The best warranty we have in oz is Premier Service. A quick check - Dell - Help Me Choose: Warranty and Service shows that there is nothing more than the basic USA coverage. So having said that, I wouldn't recommend getting it, but I still say go with Brian's advice and check by calling and asking.

  8. It may not transfer though I'm not sure. The best thing to do would be to call Dell USA and ask them if the complete care warranty would transfer if you were to relocate to Australia (don't tell them you're importing it).

  10. I know the M17x-R3 suffers from that, and since it and M18x share the same chipset, it's clear the M18x will be limited the same way.

  12. Happened to me But it was my first ssd, 8gb. I thought I was so awesome! Early adopter and all. Such a scam! -Ash Edit: Huuy, if you have windows on the SSD, make sure the page file ISNT on the ssd. Writing to the drive causes the stutter, so pagefile, temp files, save game, etc will all cause the stutter.

  13. Yeah you could do that. Ashtefere is right tho, you'll want either newer Sandforce SF-1200 (or higher version) or Intel SSD. It happens, and it probably happened to everyone around here ... at least couple of times.

  14. Refund is well over by now, well at least I know what the problem is. I guess I'll just put in my previous HDD, which kind of sucks because I bought it with a 5400 RPM lol. When I bought it I thought it was the next generation, probably should have done more research Wonder if i can get a hold of Kingston and exchange it for their newer model. doubt it, but worth a shot. EDIT: I know this may be a stupid question, but what if I were to install all my games on a second drive, and just have windows, internet, etc on the SSD drive. I take it the games will run of of the HDD and not the SSD and solve the problem? that is if the SSD is the culprit.

  19. It just occurred to me: If I were the mayor of the city where OBL was killed, I'd try to preserve his compound and turn it into a tourist destination. Can you imagine how much cash that would rake in? I'd even have re-enactments of the navy seals taking out OBL. Damn man I see $$$$$$$.
