  3. I was able to top my Vantage score with clocks increased a tad. Had enough dry ice this morning for 2-3 runs. I had picked up 13 lbs on thursday, so there was about 1lbs left. I topped my scores in 3 of the 4 scores. CPU test two was the only one. My previous best was 28.81, and this time it was 28.14. Still, plretty pleased with the results. All I can say is this system is a monster. Finally broke the 23K mark for the CPU score. Vantage: P 21724 GPU: 21325 CPU: 23016

  4. hey there! glad you like it here well money wise I think I am good because I was lucky enough to sell my R2 in israel for about the same price I bought it for in US a year ago. I expect the m18x to be in the same price range as the R2 was when it launched. as for the dual video cards setup- well, I think there will be problems but history shows us that Dell deals with those problems eventually and if they don't we can always demand our money back. what you describe about the r1 you have is outrageous and if I were you i would call dell support every day until I get my money back/a replacement R2 or R3. configuration wise the m18x can't surprise us much. we know it will be a dual card machine so 6970 in XF will be an option (plus nvidia 460 and maybe even 485 in SLI but those aren't attractive for me at least) we know it's going to have a 18" 16:9 screen which will give about the same screen real estate as the R2 17" 1200p screen offers but it won't be rgb led probably. if they decide to give us a IPS screen or 16:10 aspect ration (highly unlikely) even better! it will be anodized aluminum as we saw yesterday from the link that by now was fixed.. here is a screenshot of it: it will of course be sandy bridge based so no surprises there. it will support SATA 3 and USB 3. So just looking at the those facts it is already looking like quite an interesting machine, add to that the delays that Dell has with R3s (mine was ordered on march 19 with a edd of April 12 which was pushed to may 7 right before I canceled) I think it's wise to wait and see sure Dell can somehow screw things up and make the m18x a disappointment but then I'll just reorder the R3 and get it fast because hopefully their production bottlenecks will be resolved by then.

  5. Hi Michael first let me commend you on having created such amazing place for the masses like us. Now I know you basing you decision on Eric G blog and the snafu on Dell UK and some other tidy bits of leaked information, my question is what would you do when and If the m18x comes out and you cant afford it(in the configuration that you would have gotten a m17x-r3) or having the promise of dual cards don't work as you expected. Case and point I have an m17x-R1 with dual nvidia video cards in SLI(Nvidia GTX260M ),the computer is great but the promise of SLI power has never been realized and until recently I couldn't even play a decent game without my screen flickering like i was stuck back in the 60's and we are talking about a $4600 price tag AW.(issue was fixed by A07 bios release) In the end I think is wonderful that you have this poll and you allow us to give you our 2 cents, kudos for that, but before I mount a frontal attack on my Dell representative trying to cancel my order and asking for the m18x I would definitely would like some official word by Dell or Alienware on the matter, just to make sure we ain't chasing Moby dick or the loch Ness monster. (Note i spoke with an Alienware Rep and told me that if my laptop is in production and the m18x comes out I can refuse my package and the 15% restocking fee would be waive as long as and order is place for a new system, go figure)

  7. I thought Getfound was going to be a pretty unique name. I thought it was different enough no one else would have it, especially knowing how I came up with the name. The story behind it was, I had a female friend that dated? this creepy older guy that always made weird comments. On their last date they were driving past this field, he looks out the window then back in and says "See that filed out there? pretty isnt it?" She replied "Yes". Then he says" That would be a nice place to get found" And thats where I came up with Getfound, about 12 years ago. I have tried Hotmail and Gmail both, and someone already has the getfound email address. What's your story?

  8. I really starting to like this place a lot. I have to say Michael you make a lot of sense, your post is well written and insightful and above all it makes sense. It seems that you might be getting that m18x after all, let see what dell does, and if and is a big IF m18x comes out before mine get deliver i will raise hell for sure and take a second look at it, off course by then we will know for sure what they will offer. I am very happy I found this place, people here are intelligent and are able to communicate clearly without flaming others, and above all the massive information floating around.

  9. DR650SE, these are insane scores. The only way I could beat those if I abuse the low temperature lab in the corridor next to mine, which I don't will happen. The 920 and 940Xm are just brutal for overclocking. I had no idea the M17x power supply can power 125 W TDP on the CPU.

  10. When i get a chance, maybe in a week or so, i will run the same settings with a 920xm. They are pretty much identical and should give the same results. Ill do it after I move. Let the one cream shop germore dice I bought 26 lbs on the past week Lol Thanks guys. Can't wait to see 6970's in action.

  11. Wow man, very nice run! I bet even dual 6970M's won't be scoring much higher. Keep it up

  12. LOL I love it! It also reflects my view on unboxing videos--I hate them and think they are a huge waste of bandwidth.

  13. haha that is a strange thing to say. I use 5150 Joker regularly and my use of that nick goes all the way back to a service called Prodigy. This predated even AOL when it was called Compuserve. There's a combination of reasons I picked 5150, one is that when went snowboarding with a few friends, the board was a 5150 and I thought it looked "cool" at the time (I was around 14). Secondly, 5150 is a police code for insane so insane + joker seemed like the thing to do at that age and it just stuck. Later on I found out 5150 Joker is some van halen song although I'm not really into metal. Although my newest nick is "Dirty Scrubz" and that's because I'm a medical student and well our scrubz got dirty quite regularly. Now that I'm in my early 30s, I've decided to drop the nick names and just start using my real one.

  14. heh Well, to me it seems like the leap from getlost to getfound is not that big It does suck discovering someone else is using ur nick My nick is mfractal, and the reason is that i was super interested in fractals when i studied them back in school, and it kinda became my obsession for a while, back then i needed a DJ name (i also DJ psytrance) and after thinking about it for about 3 minutes i came up with m for my first name which is Michael plus fractal. Pretty unique man, never had an issue with any service P.S - I discovered the new smileys, had to use a bunch of them!!
