  3. Nice system and nice guide! The Inspiron 1720 was a system I bought in mid 07. Used it until I got my R2, and then gave it to my bro. Still a good system. T9600 2.6GHz CPU, 256GB SSD, 500GB HDD, 4GB DDR2 RAM, and an Nvidia 8600M GT. I put a black keyboard on it, thought it made it look kinda slick. Also has red arabic keyboard stickers on it from when I was taking Arabic 1-4 in school and learning some Arabic on my own. Learning to type in another language is a PITA. It was good for gaming back in the day. Still a strong system and great for a student, which is why I gave to him. I kinda miss that system Made it though two trips to Iraq and still going strong, never had an issue with it.

  5. We have tons of it in my research lab and it's pretty cheap (cheaper than water ), but you'd need to spend some time to make a nice cooling system with it I guess.

  7. No freezer. Using dry ice though. Helps out quite a bit, but be sure to wear gloves. I might look into getting a dice pot.

  9. Thanks. Did you see the min temps? I guess thats the lowest reported by real temp or the cpu. Ill have to check with hwinfo. And i forgot to use my HyperX ram. I don't know if it'll make a diff, but my goal is to break 200sec.

  11. While both emit a noise, I can tell you the delta one is the less audible one. On another hand, I found that sometimes, my M17X will tell me my A/C adapter is not a Dell branded one when connected to the flextronic, and this barely never happened with the delta one. But actually, both of them are able to fully power my computer; go figure... So, is the delta more depndable than the flextronic ? I asked Michael (Dell), and he told me to not care as none of them are made by Dell, which I could not figure out myself until he told me Nice week to all !

  12. Apparently there's a more updated version of the 11.4 preview drivers that's supposed to have a bit more performance over the original 11.4 drivers. Has anyone tried those yet? Link can be found: Cat 11.4 Preview (.dlls, etc dated 3/22/11). Website Dated 3/29/11 - Guru3D.com Forums

  13. (finished) So after seeing Inap's wonderful paintings I decided to give it a shot. I'm thinking orange! It will be the first time im going to completely disassemble my system. So thought i would share my progress and hopefully an awesome result. Firstly i bought a new pair of magnesium covers for my lappy in case of something went wrong. The alien head was glued on to the lcd cover and the plastic plate was welded on. I used a heat gun for the head and a small drill for the plate. Rest of the stuff was kinda straight forward off. Just a screw here and there (ie. battery lock) With the bare magnesium set i went to get rid of the old paint at a chemical cleaning called Danclean. Could maybe have done it myself if I had any knowledge of the actual paint. Now I have covered (blue heat resistant tape from the powder coating place) the areas of the magnesium set where I don't want it powder coated. Since it's the first time I do this I wanted to make sure everything would fit inside afterwards. I will have some more pics to share soon... ... which is now! It's not perfect but here it is to enjoy!
