Dell OptiPlex 960 Questions

NOTE: I'm new to Tech Inferno so if I'm doing something wrong tell me!)

Hey guys so I have an OptiPlex 960 laying around that's completely fine for normal everyday tasks but just doesn't do it anymore for gaming. So I was wondering if anyone could help me through making some upgrades to it and answering some questions about it. I'm not very experienced in changing/modifying computers & changing parts so please bear with me!

These are the parts which I am planning to add:

- TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter,2.4GHz 450Mbps/5Ghz 450Mbps

- EVGA 500 W1 80+, 500W Continuous Power, 3 Year Warranty Power Supply 100-W1-0500-KR

- Intel Core BX80646I74790K i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz)

- EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Super Clocked ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

- Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Black (HX318C10FBK2/16) OR (Depending on Compatibility) Komputerbay 16GB (4x 4GB) DDR2 PC2-5300F 667MHz CL5 ECC Fully Buffered FB-DIMM (240 PIN) 16 GB w/ Heatspreaders

I also want to ask a couple questions which I hope someone is able to answer for me:

- The desktop comes with DDR2 RAM, would I be able to put in DDR3 RAM, or would I have to get DDR2 RAM?

- Would I need to get a better fan cooler for the desktop?

- Do I need any additional parts for the upgrade?

(If you have any other suggestions or advice please tell me)

Thats all I want to know for now everyone ! Thanks for all help! :)

Before adding these external parts to your system please check the compatibility level b/w these device and the main system. Instead of adding these components to your system i recommend you to read some articles, blogs realted GPU upgrades, Motherboard upgrades, RAM upgrades etc available on Dell official website. You can also contact with any Dell community member for assistant support in your task. I hope my these tips will help you alot in making a perfect gaming system. For more information you can use Dell Optiplex 960 Manual. Good Luck.
