Optimus compression possible on laptop with AMD dGPU?

Hi forum!

I'm new to this whole thing and I've read most of the documentation but I couldn't seem to find a straight answer for this.

I have an HP Pavillion DV6 6070ee laptop with a Core i7 2630QM and AMD Radeon HD 6770M. It also has an mPCIe 2.0 x1 slot.

My EXP GDC Beast is on its way and I don't know what eGPU to get.

Will I be able to take advantage of optimus compression with an NVIDIA eGPU even thought I have an AMD dGPU?

Any clue?

Thanks in advance.

I'm aware.

What I have in mind is that I would completely disable the dGPU.

I did read somewhere that it's completely done through software by the driver. API calls are routed to the dGPU when needed. And NVIDIA even managed to disconnect a dGPU *while* a game was running and it instantly went back to the iGPU in some live demonstration of theirs.

I also heard here on this forum that it can be done and that the dGPU doesn't matter (though no actual tests). I just need confirmation before I do anything crazy.
