I will try to find help in this Forum here.

I changed my GPU from 6970m to a Clevo 7970m.

The new GPU is shown in Bios - and i installed the latest driver from AMD.

But know the problem:

No Bios and a lot of other Information is shown in differnet tools. I can't Switch to the new GPU. The Alien is just running with the Intel GPU.

Here some screenshots:

Is the adaptor 0 the Intel GPU oder the AMD GPU?

I really Need help - can someone connect to my Alien via teamview??

Thanks,

Philippo

Exactly, but switching to PEG and turning off the iGPU results in 8 pieps and a black screen. Reseting the BIOS (back to SG) and i can start the R3.

I've tried clevo 7970 in m17x R3 years ago. Never succeeded. I think clevo vbios doesn't work for m17x R3.

After the fail, I got Dell 7970 and it worked flawlessly except for the dimmed screen which could be solved by hwinfo.

Hi.

I have: Alienware m17x R4 and Alienware m17x R3

so I did this for R4 with 7970:

I've created a bootable FAT32 USB drive with rufus. ( https://rufus.akeo.ie/ )

This created a FreeDOS system, the boot files.

FreeDOS option must be selected before formatting.

I then downloaded the VBIOS: ( https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/132831/Dell.HD7970M.2048.120629.rom )

I renamed the file tu 7970.rom, then copied the memory stick.

I downloading that: AtiFlash3.95 ( https://app.box.com/s/b3433fed2ee8ffbb1938 )

The contents of the zip file is copied to the USB flash drive root directory, wherein is 7970.rom.

Then the machine is restarted. F12 is pressed and the USB storage boot option to choose from.

Freedos started ....

The following command at the VBIOS update occurred: atiwinflash -f -p 0 7970.rom

I hope you succeed.

Remember to the VBIOS upgrade always involves high risk, and just do it at your own risk at all of the above.

Best Regards

I tried two different vBIOS for the HD7970M:

Dell.HD7970M.2048.120629.rom

Clevo.HD7970M.2048.120605.rom

I changed the name to

HD7970M.rom

Clevo.rom

because DOS only takes 8 characters in the name.

I used the ATIflash tool. But every time i get the same error.

First of all i unlock the Bios and get the answer that the ROM is now unlocked.

The next is to get Infos to the Adapter and detailed Infos.

-i and then -ai

Now i tried to upload/Flash one of the vBIOS to Adapter 0 - but always the same error:

Failed to read ROM Error: 0FL01

Someone here to trade in my clevo card to a Dell 780M card ??? :chuncky::Banane47:

It may be that the card slot is not 0.

therefore you try so

Look for adapter at position 1

atiflash -ai 1

Next *If recognised

atiwinflash -f -p 1 7970.rom

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I see your pictures.

You try: ATIFLASH -unlockrom 0 or 1

If this is so not going to be here for a possible solution: http://http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showpost.php?p=3901976&postcount=13
