P771ZM Issues

Hi there,

I recently bought a 17.3" P771zm Clivo laptop and I have a few issues with it which I need to solve.

First - The pc doesn't reboot...I've only just discovered this issue after solving another problem with the finger-print scanner driver which required me to reboot the pc.

Anyway, the pc shuts down fine, but if I select reboot, windows says restarting, the screen goes black and the lights on the keyboard stay lit but it doesn't reboot. I've waited 20 minutes for it to reboot before but i got impatient and turned it off at the switch.

I'm not too sure why it does this...

Second - Overclocking. I know laptops aren't meant for overclocking but I found it ridiculous when I found that similar spec laptops with 970m's have clock speeds of 924MHz. Mine is clocked at 540MHz and it wont let me overclock for some reason.

I know nvidias latest drivers don't allow for overclocking so I rolled back to 344.75 and I still can't overclock. applying the values in afterburner don't work. Do you think it has a locked bios or something?

Third - The POST screen doesn't display any buttons to access the bios, I've tried multiple keys including delete which is the most common. I bought the PC from .PC Specialist'.

Thanks in advance,

Sean.

Welcome! :)

The not rebooting/ shutting down issue may have many reasons...

You can enter the BIOS and check the version numbers by keeping F2 pressed right after switching it on. You can find the latest stock BIOS and EC in my signature.

Switch the system to power mode in Clevo Hot Key App in order for the GPU to clock properly.

Please make a screenshot of the NVIDIA Inspector overclocking tab so we can see if the vBIOS is indeed already OC locked (every vBIOS since December is OC locked by NVIDIA).

Also please make a dump of the vBIOS with GPU-Z and upload it here.

And don't worry about the pixel filtrate, just update your GPU-Z... ;)

I took it to my place of work and it seems to be a issue with windows in general, i need to format and reinstall...but i cant use the windows cd provided as the laptop doesnt come with a disc drive *facepalm*.

For some reason it wont let me attach the vbios here so i shoved it in my dropbox :)https://www.dropbox.com/s/t4t7fjsh687lspi/GM204.rom?dl=0

Now, nvidia inspector confused me a little...why does it show different clock speeds compared to gpuz? Gyazo - c0b3605a31a2cd5c33909d271ea056a0.png

Current clocks are variable and depend on GPU load and System Power State. To get highest Performance, set that mode in Clevo Hot Key App.

There are many software to extract the Windows key from a running installation > google and make a pick.

Yeah, that vBIOS is from early December, so overclock has been removed from it by NVIDIA.
