hans123
Hey, as you can read i would like to upgrade my Alienware 18 R1 (newest version) to SLI with another GTX 780M. And here is my question, where can i buy the right gpu heatsink of the newest Alienware 18 notebook? I can´t find anything in Google..... all heatsinks i found are for the 18x ... Many thanks in advance!
Sspawn26
Pretty sure the heatsinks are compatible from ealier models. Should be able to use a 680m heatsink. Right side part number is Y3WC7 or Y48TK. Order from Dell spare parts or maybe get a good deal on ebay. You also need to x-clamp, most heatsinks are sold without. hans123
Hey thank you for you answer! On a other forum i read that the Heatsink of the Alienware 18X R2 is not equal to the Heatsink of the 18 R1... i already have an Alienware 18X R2 and probably i try to use the old Heatsink.. Sspawn26
I'm going to be installing a three pipe heatsink on my 2920xm from an M18x R2. The chassis are almost exactly the same. So much so, that you can switch an R2 mobo into an R1 without any modification other then some hardware.

electrosoft
M18x r1/r2 GPU heatsinks are compatible with the AW18. I've swapped in and out for various reasons the AMD 100W and Nvidia 100W heatsinks from the M18x r2 into my AW18 with no problems.
