HeAdHuNtErGER
I think so, because the alienware 17 could be bought with an K5000m:Alienware M17x R4 3D 17.3 Intel Core i7 3940xm 32GB 512GB Nvidia Quadro K5000M in Sulzbach - Notebooks, Laptops kaufen und verkaufen über private Kleinanzeigen
electrosoft
It depends. Some HP cards I've used in other systems come up blank screened but post and boot and may need a blind flash to a Dell compatible vBios to work. This happened with a K3100m I tested from HP in a AW18.

I have a Quadro K4000M with 4GB memory working fine in my M17x R3. It was a cheap way of getting an Nvidia card with a decent amount of memory for my M17x. It WASN'T listed as an "Alienware" part on eBay, it was listed as a "Dell" part on there so that's why it was very cheap.
