will97
Hello everyone, today I'm going to list you all the steps I made to do an eGPU, with a MSI gaming notebook. These are my features: MSI GE-60 I7 4700hq HM86 8 Ram igpu 4600hd dgpu Gtx 860m 2gb egpu PHANTOM Gtx 970 4gb PE4c 2.1 (mpcie) Power SUpplY 550w. At first, I had Windows 8.1 64bit, but I had some problems when I selected "disable dgpu" and it always gave me the same error: "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE" so I decided to install Windows 7, infact I had no more problems and it went smoothly. So, I formatted my Hardisk on MBR format, to hold setup 1.3, then I linked the mpcie PM100C cable to the notebook wlan port and I run setup. This is what I've done step by step: 1.Setup 1.3 (Tech Inferno Fan) 2.Set port with eGPU to GEN 2 3.Endpoint set 3.8x gb from 4.0x 4.disable dgpu 5.ignore dgpu 6.compaction IGPU + eGPU 7.Chainload - test run(MBR) to win These are scores reached: Internal Display NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4700HQ,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-16GF External Display NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4700HQ,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-16GF I hope my esperience would be helpful.
lenka
<br>Tech Inferno Fan>> it recommended to use a Gen2-capable PE4L 2.1 or PE4C 2.1 instead of a Gen1-capable PE4H 2.4 as listed below.Hi will97, Thank you very much for all of your advise ! It works for me perfectly after many hours of testing with Setup 1.30 by Nando4, I read your thread and it was the " graal " for me !However, I'm not using PE4C (v2.1) like you but PE4H (v2.4) with PM3N ( bundle ), that'why I'm posting here.So for other guys who have a MSI GE60, Here are my specs, just a little bit different :MSI GE60 i7 3820qmigpu 4000hddpgu gtx 660Megpu ASUS gtx 770 OC 2GBPE4H ( v2.4) + PM3N connecting to the mPCIe port instead of Wireless cardPower Supply ATX Style Cooler Master 550WWindow 7 Family 64bitsJust a few things, after rebooting, I had to install the last drivers for the eGPU because it didn't work the first time...Again , many thanks to you , nando 4 and all the community. lenka
Hi Nando4, Thank for notice that difference. A question about that : Does it seems that the GEN2 system increase the efficiency of the eGPU instead of using GEN1 type ?
