Disable Intel Turbo Boost Y510P

QuiteNice

Recommended Posts

Hey! I need some help here. I just got my Y510P a BIOS MOD from this forum. Working perfect :)

But I think I need to disable the Turbo Boost. I OC'ed to 3,6Ghz, but under stress test it goes down to the turbo boost value 3,39 or 3,40ghz...

What to do?

it will run at 3.6 GHz when only 1 core is active and Will run at 3.4 Ghz when 4 cores are active . Under stress test all 4 cores works so The clock speed gets down to 3.4 Ghz .

Hope it helped

multiplier works like

99.75*36 for 1 core active

99.75*35 for 2 cores active

99.75*34 for 3 cores active

99.75*34 for 4 cores active

what does this bios mod do actually? and can you tell me why the bios update is necessary ,I mean how this bios is related to throttling problem? Because recently I am facing overheating issue and on contracting Lenovo customer service they told me to update my bios, but after I updated it now my cpu throttles when I play games . Don't know its happening due to update or not but my laptop was running well prior to this update. Now when I pay games(any settings) my laptops becomes heated after sometimes as well the frame rate drops enormously making it unplayable!

How did you managed to overclock your CPU?

I made some researches on Google but I can't find anything. o_O

Intel Extreme Turning Utility, it works pretty nice and will let you mess with almost anything on your cpu except disabling turbo boost (unless you just underclock it to 2.4ghz). It will also let you mess with your intel HD, unless you have an ultrabay card in.

DO you know if this would void warranty or anything silly like that?

Is it detectable?
