betzeh
I've been trying to install hackintosh on my Y400 laptop all this time. I can't even get to the welcome page of the installer disc (distros or retail). And i can't use the usb stick installer method because it can't be detected on boot. I've been googling all over the net but i can't find a single post that indicating succesful install any of osx to Ideapad Y400 laptop. Is there any of you guys can help me with something? Tutorial or links maybe? Thx.

saryx
Ok, for starters, you can not install OSX onto anything other than Apple hardware using the default OSX install discs. You would do better going to a site like tonymacx86.com and asking them if they have had any success in installing OSX on the Y400. Depending on the hardware, it may be possible, or not. My y510p will not have a hackintosh image any time in the near future due to SLI, BIOS whitelist, etc.

You have to switch to legacy boot in your BIOS to get your Y400 to recognize the USB drive. Once you reboot go back into the BIOS and select your boot device (it will more than likely be the last device and will start with EFI (IE...EFI_Samsung_USB)Just use Unibeast from the TonyMac website to create your USB install with a retail version of OSX. If you have a Haswell processor your system will reboot as soon as you attempt to run your install. You will need to use a patched Kernel on your USB drive, then after you complete your install you will need to also patch the Kernel installed on your hard drive. That info is also available on the TonyMac site. Just search Haswell early reboot. Here's the direct link Haswell early reboot, Mavericks, locked MSRs, and HP Envy 15-J063CL (i7-4700MQ)-Ron
PlaZing
I'm using vmware for the OSX virtualization, it really simple compare to hackintosh which is very complicated. maybe the performance is quite low because it sharing the resource.
