GTX 880m 8go on M17X R4 120Hz 3D screen problem ?

I don't know if the Bios can change anything ?

@godfafa, it would be nice if you modify parameter in your bios (like in original) to know if that changes anything :?

Well, I'd go to bios and press F9 and save. But I really dont want to go back to stock BIOS and take a risk of getting my laptop bricked.

And moreover, I doubt bios would do anything this huge for GPU.

I am at workplace now and it's 4PM in Korea, I am able to do the change at night time.

Hello, I tested today the 327.23, it's works, currently I don't know if this driver use 100% of this card but it's much better.

A new problem is come...

When I want test with benchmark or game with full options, the screen freeze or make black screen after 5 mn. Any idea ?

It is normal to have 93°C in full charge ?

I think problem can come from the voltage too low or temperature too high.

Oh your GPU's temperature is 93°C?

Maybe that's the problem. Mine barely goes high as 70°C whatever I do

no, all is good now, full charge is 69° max

It's just because it was a problem with a black plastic on the copper for the 660m, now I removed, the contact between gpu and the heatsink is much better, you can check the rest of the thread for have all the explanation ;)

Maybe your version is good for the new driver ?

Can you post here your 80.04.E3.00.03 (P2053-0002) vbios?

@Manu369

this is my gpuz screenshot. The new Alienware 17 with 880m has the same vbios as mine.

I've changed the bios setting to default and as expected, nothing changed in the 3dmark11 score.

I really think it's the vbios not bios that is the matter here.

If you want my vbios, just ask me. I can send it via email.

Just remember that flashing a wrong vbios can brick your card.

Really not possible to make backup or reset after a bad flash ?

http://www.techinferno.com/2011/07/09/recovering-a-notebook-gpu-from-a-bad-flash/

SVL7 is everywhere.

All is exactly the same so I guess, it can be good... but I don't know how doing this

@Manu369

I think my vbios will work on yours but i am just worried in case it does not.

if you are using m17x R4 with 3d LCD which has no IG, there is no way you can restore your vbios after bricking GPU.

If you have a friend who has non-3D LCD which can boot using IG, he can help you.

flashing vbios is easy.

follow this instruction. give me your email address if you want my vbios.

How much 3D Mark 2011 graphic score with this variant modifications?

Klem, do you think that variant would do good for me too?

Can you please tell me briefly what modification was made on it?

Yes, you can try. It is safe. I am just try increase Power Limit and Power Target, and disable Turbo Boost.

THx. Okay I will try at night. May I ask why you disabled turbo boost?

For increase performance and reduce throttling.

And you can post your vbios here, and i make some things with it.

Ok bios flashed and tested with 337.88 driver

Generic VGA video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3840QM,Alienware M17xR4

As you can see, it's always very low, in techpowerup when I run 3dmark, the GPU up at 993 mhz and when the video is run, the gpu down at 231mhz max, memory remains at 1002 mhz

Ok. How much score with this 337.88 driver and stock vbios? And how much voltage for GPU core under 3D Load with stock vbios?

with stock vbios, always with 337.88 driver :

when I run a benchmark, voltage down at 0.8xx volt in same time with the gpu core clock. When it's done, you can see on the picture, throttle is not present.

That should not be. You have some sort of problems with the video card. You have a very strong throttling by TDP. I do not know why you have so. Try flash vbios from godfafa.
