Skyite
What laptop pad/cooler are you using that works decently well? Need idea on what to get for my Lenovo y500.
WhyAmIGeorge
I'd also like to know, most of them look quite small, even if they're made for 15.6" notebooks.
Phased
I've never had too good of experience with these. I've tried a few different laptop and have noticed minimal difference. Is your system running abnormally hot?
Diamondback
Dunno about the size on your Lenovo, but I have a CoolerMaster NotePal X3 that goes everywhere with me, usually under the "sidekick" netbook rather than my main laptop. As a bonus, it has enough cooled area on top for a couple of external HDD's... Catch is, it takes as much room as an entire 17" laptop, and for carrying the beast and my 12.5TB, eight-drive storage array I gotta use a catalog case that's technically too big for airline carry-on. Upd@te
I'm using a Zalman-NC3000U, and it's doing a good job, I own the same laptop as Diamondback, and it's definitely making my laptop a lot quieter. I've not really spent a lot of time looking at the temps, but the chipset also runs a little cooler.
danalec
I have a lenovo y500 and I've bought a Cooler Master: NOTEPAL U3 PLUS at EnvizageI really liked the way you can customize the cooler layout, it fits perfectly well for y500!
Xtansion
I am using cooler master U3 plus - 10 -13 deg for game laptop it's a very good thing and price not to high
charlyle2007
I used to have a coolermaster laptop fan, but it didn't help me much since I still had the same temperature as without it. It all depends on some laptops; some has better air flow than others so it might help your laptop.
super-toast
I use a notepal u3 and iam satisfied. But my other cooler, the NZXT cryo LX is much powerfull !

Racer1
I also have a Notepal U3. With my old laptop (Acer Aspire 8735G) it was a really big difference. I think about 10-15 degrees. With my new MS-16F2 barebone it's not a big difference. I think it really depends on the fan layout and the ventilation holes on the bottom. rotary-intl
I remember using a generic(I think Toshiba)cooling pad from Meijers. It had just a single fan, but I effectively "supercharged" it by using duct tape to completely seal it over my laptop intake-so it would pressurize the air and blow it in . super-toast
You can also tried the evercool magic fan, it suck the hot air out of your laptop. But i dont know if its very effective
Toxic
This is my Y510p with a Cooler Master U3. You can change the position of the fans as you want. NotePal U3 - Cooler Master
joseph0042
I decided to purchase the cooler master notepal 3 as the 3 80m fans are movable. You can position them directly under your intake points at the bottom of your laptop. They also make a 2 fan version for 15 inch or smaller laptops. beingben
I suggest doing a custom cooler, cheapest one would be Plexiglas heated and bent, than you have wood, final would be sheet metal thinnest you can afford. I've personally did my final with 1/8inch aluminum and run three fans with a 3.5inch Fan controller beneath the setup.
beingben
I would suggest building your own custom laptop cooler. If you've tinkered with any kind of DIY project before it's pretty much a breeze of measuring and cutting. You basically have three options in materials: Plexiglas, Wood, Sheet-Metal... I myself have made one of all three and my current laptop cooler is 1/8inch aluminum. They you can make it the viewing height you wish, or opt for an adjustable height. With your own cooler you get more wiggle room for extras like a fan controller and exactly where want the fans for placement is a huge help too. Spartan015
Honestly I haven't had much luck with cooling pads. Instead I resorted to putting bottlecaps under the upper two rubber feet of my notebook just to get some airflow going.
Arklancer
Was not going to get one but since I had some extra money I got a Cooler master sf-19. Its loud but works damn good plus the lights are a nice touch.[h=1][/h]
