Hi guys,

when I try to install debian wheezy on my Y510p everything installs fine using netinst.iso. But when I try to boot into desktop mode it hangs, whatever I do.

Did anyone get debian booting properly?

Thanks

shyd

I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 on my Y510p and can boot fine. I assume this is the first boot? Assuming that you're using noveau, have you tried adding nomodeset on the grub entry? on grub screen press e to edit the grub entry, and find a line similar to this:

linux /boot/vmlinuz-xxxx-generic root=UUID=xxxxxxx ro quiet $vt_handoff

and edit it to look like this:

linux /boot/vmlinuz-xxxx-generic root=UUID=xxxxxxx ro quiet nomodeset $vt_handoff

Thanks for the replies!

Today I gave it a try with jessie. The installation runs fine, but booting in SLI didn't work with no desktop environment installed. So I just pulled one graphics card out. Booting to terminal works.

After installing lightdm and mate it booted flawlessly with both cards (nouveau).
