demonspeedster
I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 on my Y510p and can boot fine. I assume this is the first boot? Assuming that you're using noveau, have you tried adding nomodeset on the grub entry? on grub screen press e to edit the grub entry, and find a line similar to this:linux /boot/vmlinuz-xxxx-generic root=UUID=xxxxxxx ro quiet $vt_handoffand edit it to look like this:linux /boot/vmlinuz-xxxx-generic root=UUID=xxxxxxx ro quiet nomodeset $vt_handoffMore on nomodeset on ubuntuforum

qcrist
I have had issues with installing linux because I have SLI, do you have SLI?
shyd
Thanks for the replies!Today I gave it a try with jessie. The installation runs fine, but booting in SLI didn't work with no desktop environment installed. So I just pulled one graphics card out. Booting to terminal works. After installing lightdm and mate it booted flawlessly with both cards (nouveau).
maxjohnson
I am using Kubuntu 14.04 beta and is delighted. It boot even with SLI, and after installing the nVdia driver looks like even SLI is functional.
