Aulex
Has anyone had issues where their y510p hangs when shutting down or restarting as in the laptop is stuck on the "shutting down" or "restart" screen. The only way i was able to shut mine off was by holding down the power button.
Florin
You have a process that is keeping Windows busy, it may be related to windows update, some kb that didn't install successfully. Since when do you have this problem?
Kwaz
Like Florin said this is due to a process hanging and not closing down. I think what they're eluding to is... did this start happening after you installed something in particular or has it always happened? Also, are you on Windows 7 or 8? How long of hang are we talking about? Do you have an HDD or an SSD?

Also i have an update that isn't installing for some reason and i'm not sure why, this may be the cause of it, here is the windows log:Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 for x64-based Systems (KB2840632)Installation date: 10/3/2013 1:55 PMInstallation status: FailedError details: Code 80073712Update type: ImportantA security issue has been identified in a Microsoft software product that could affect your system. Kwaz
The smiley that that dump made by chance is quite ironic.
krwilson
You may have left it too long at this point but what if you try to SYSTEM RESTORE to the farthest date you can get. If nothing else take a look at the programs you have installed along the way when a RESTORE POINT was created to provide some insight into what may be causing your issue.
