JSeymour421
Hello everyone is it possible to upgrade from my 750m Sli to say 770m sli? Haven't seen a post saying that it is possible.
svl7
No, the GPU is soldered to the board, if you want a notebook with an upgradable video card then you need to look into the 15 inch and larger Alienwares, Clevos or MSIs.

Kwaz
Yep. Not doable. I'd imagine that you could perhaps run an upgraded graphics card in the Ultrabay, but with SLI running the other card would be downclocked to match. BUT, now I do wonder what would happen... or if you can say swap in faster ultrabay graphics and disable in soldered graphics. Maybe in the future there will be a GTX Ultrabay Graphics Option. The Ultrabay is not able to output directly to the display. It is only a slave card to the main GPU.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that what Kwaz said is still possible (although I'll need to do more research first).

As far as I know it goes like this: Ultrabay GPU > main GPU > Intel iGPU > display. The point is there is no way to upgrade because only the soldered-on GPU can be primary. If somehow it could be disabled and everything could go through the Ultrabay, then maybe it's possible, but then Lenovo would have to come out with a 770M or 780M Ultrabay to exceed the performance of 750M SLI. We know that's never going to happen and the tiny Ultrabay fan won't even be able cool a GPU like that adequately, as it can hardly handle the heat of the 750M as it is. buddha747
Perhaps it would be possible to use the ultrabay to use an external gpu, and then only use the external gpu. If their connector is only a variation on SATA then perhaps it would be possible.
buddha747
X_x pretend I said pcie, anyhow, I looked at mine and it does seem to have nonstandard versions of both sata and pcie in thereSent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Tapatalk
RedLionRisen
I'm more curious, still, if the 650m cards can have their BIOS flashed to 750m versions or vise versa, to make them compatible in SLI with other models. Has anyone made any attempt at it so far?

shaggy814
Even if you could change it out, I don't know that the laptop would be able to run a better card. With laptop, wattage and heat are big issues and most are made specifically for the parts that they come with.

HomeLite
Are there any external graphics card solutions?
octiceps
Are there any external graphics card solutions? Not possible for numerous reasons, plus the Ultrabay uses a proprietary PCIe x8 connection you can't find anywhere else. crossday
The one inside the motherboard is fix and cannot b changedIf you really want to change, buy one and plug it into the ultrybay
mackhunse
I imagine there isn't that much difference in power consumption and heat production between the 650m and 750m cards? Aren't they essentially the same thing, just one has a higher base clock speed?
