jaysonsd
Hi everyone,After all the hard work to unlock the Y500 bios, I was wondering if anyone looked at the new Y510p's bios. Its supposedly completely unlocked. Would it be possible to use it on the Y500? I remember the Y400 can use the Y500. Or is the chipset too different? Thanks,Jayson
tagtag
I doubt the y500 and y400 would be compatible or could be made compatible because of the changes in the following:1. Onboard GPU can be used now.2. I7 4th gen processor.PS: Its better to ask lenovo to release unlocked BIOS for y500/y400 as it will only help customers and it isnt even a tough job by any means. kashi
Yes it is completely blocked. I have the y510p and it won't allow for installing new wireless cards.
Kwaz
Yes it is completely blocked. I have the y510p and it won't allow for installing new wireless cards.Old thread... but if you get the unlocked Y510p bios your wireless card will work just fine. I'm using it now in fact. You can find the unlocked bios thread under the Lenovo / IBM Laptop Forum as a sticky.
