Guest
The new cards will prevent it from re-flashing as they get stuck before we can even enter BIOS menu. Also HM can't boot without dGPU inserted.Optimus can't be disabled on EM as all traffic is routed through the iGPU (via hardware).
Calibre41
EDIT: 6-31-P158N-201-R you mean 6-31-P15SN-201 and the GTX 780m backplate part number is 6-33-P15SL-101 (maybe the 680m uses the same? Maybe this is improved ?)

Calibre41
I Currently have a 675m, so if i buy a 7970M my current heasink will work?
cyenz
If you have a scout about you will find the electronic service manual somewhere, you can compare the part numbers for the 675m heatsink with the 7970m sink........... I don't have the manual as I don't own one, so I can't compare for you.I suspect it will work just fine. - and I also think the new one piece design will work too, and it's not expensive (sub €25) and has a much better cooling capacity so if your're upgrading your card, that would be a great addition and give you better temps and lower noise (due to lower fan speeds)

Calibre41
You'd have to call them for a spares order mate! don't forget to mention that your looking for the 1 piece cooler specifically from the SM series, and also if you have the P150 you'll noice the cooling fins are aluminium, the P170's have an all COPPER design might as well throw in an all copper P17**M CPU cooler too
cyenz
Didnt now that im sorry! My CPU temps are fine, the ones im worried about are the GPU, constantly between 80 and 90C. Too much for my taste. kingyr
Awesome stuff Prema, doing great work for the community keep it up! wish that Clevo would work as hard as you!If you don't mind sharing, how is the power consumption / thermal looking, assuming you are using the 180w brick. Guest
ATM I am working on a P1x0EM barebone, which Clyde sent me for dev work! Only have my 330W PSU... I wouldn't expect any thermal problems as the new P1x0SM use "almost" the same Heatsinks, I am even using the old ones atm, and the card runs cool. There is still some work to do, but thought I let everyone know that we are getting there... BTW the bench ran on Win 8.1 in UEFI mode and with latest 326.80 driver, so "dig that" Clevo... (sidenote: only 3DM11 shows 3gb vRAM, GPU-Z, Inspector etc all detect the card properly)
lonesyndal
I'll be keeping a close watch on this thread. That boost from 680M to 780M is well worth it IMO.... And will definitely make the P150EM I have last plenty longer.
jaykop
Prema any news on the p370em3 working with the 780m yet ...I just want to upgrade ..ps your the man and clevo can stick it as I spent £2800 on this laptop so I could upgrade it for future proof and now their is only one msn that can help me PREMA MAN .....Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
