I will be trying this soon. I also had the misfortune of using the battery gauge recalibration software before becoming aware of it's potential for ultimate doom. I am hoping re-flashing the BIOS will fix whatever bug is preventing the motherboard from registering a plugged in power cable, without resetting everything over and over lol...

Hello everyone,

I'm new here in the forum and i don't speak english 100%, but i'll try.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad y500 gor about a year and i've been living a nightmare with it.

I found out the links to this modded Bios, but i'm not sure if i would be able to chance the wireless card after mod my bios... is that correct?

Still can't download the files, (i read the forum rules about it), but i don't know what to do anymore. I just can't work with this fantastic "Lenovo Offline Gamer Laptop" from hell.

I'm considering bring this peace of crap to the firing range and solve the problem there.:52_002::choler:

Thx in advance and sorry bout anything.

can i add an external gpu using the bios mod. by using the EXP GDC Laptop External PCI-E Graphics Card v7 ? it would really help to future proof the y400/y500 series since there are 2 mini pcie slots available.

Several people have reported good results with the Intel 7260 (both N and AC versions)

Simple question here.

Do I need to flash NVIDIA GeForce GT750M Second VGA BIOS Update for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - IdeaPad Y400, Y500 after flashing this modded bios ?

Planning to go SLi after flashed the modded bios.

Yes, you'll have to flash ultrabay card just as well.

Also if you're planning to overclock cards - be warned that there's no modded BIOS for ultrabay card, so SLI will not work on windows 8.1.

You just get it off the Lenovo website where you find the available software for your model.

A part of my BIOS got corrupted that controls my laptops backlights. Other methods like the Gary Key fix did not work for me because I do not get any light up during post. i followed this guide  that says I need to extract and use the 6MB portion of an 8MB bios dump, only AFUWIN tells me "Error, ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size which is because my laptop BIOS size is only 5.87MB.  I don't need to flash the whole BIOS, I only need to flash a portion of it.

I've searched everywhere online for a dump of my laptop model but non exist that I know of.

I fiddled around with modding my laptops BIOS to unlock XMP profiles and hopefully seeing if optimus could be disabled. After flashing my modded bios and trying it out, I noticed that my keyboards backlight no longer turns on. I was unaware it requires an official BIOS to function. They backlights wont turn on unless ASUS ATK package is installed but now it seems it also needs an official BIOS?

The modded ROM and tool I used if anyone has any experience with this and doesn't mind telling me what to enable/disable, or anything else i can do to re-enable them

      Hello !
I tried a tutorial on the forum to remove the supervisor password on a X260 thinkpad but the winbond 25Q128FVPQ chip is not recognized with the programmer CH341A and ASprogramer (does not detect automatically and not manually). Plugged into the motherboard with a soic8.

Can you help me with detection?
Can I find the password with the software or do I have to write it?

      Thank you so much !!!

In this thread you can post your requests for Lenovo ThinkPad T440p / T440s / T540p.
If someone wants upgrade Wi-Fi card and remove whitelist, or unlock hidden additional menus and settings in bios setup menu, then you can post your request in this thread.
      Important!
For creating bios backup and to flash bios mod, you must use any SPI programmer  (like CH341A programmer) and a SOIC8/SOP8 test clip!

Just dump your Bios using any SPI programmer  (like CH341A programmer) and a SOIC8/SOP8 test clip, then post it in this thread or upload it to any fileserver and send me the link.
