BIOS update not working in Win 8

The A09 update comes as a .iso file which contains a DOS flash utility as well as the firmware image. You can't run it from within Windows. You either need to burn a bootable CD with the iso, or you create an USB stick which is capable of booting DOS and put the firmware image as well as the flasher on it and run it manually.

Like svl7 said, and it's never a good idea to run a bios update thru windows because there's so much that could go wrong. Format a usb drive with fat32 and put like freeDOS on it.

Flashing from within windows isn't that bad actually, but it depends on the flash tool. In this case it's much more simple - the flash tool just doesn't support Windows, it's a DOS application, as I already stated above. And it won't work on FreeDOS either.
