G53JW bios unlock for cpu and gpu overclock/overvolt?

Recommended Posts

I know it's pretty old, but I hope my old laptop can get some more love. The bios is attached here. Hopefully someone can look at it and see what is possible.

Thanks!

Out of curiosity - can you access the Chipset and Advanced tabs normally?

Your system came with a 260m? I think I looked at the 260m vbios of the G series a while ago, nothing to do there, no voltage increase possible.

@Xonar: thanks! i'll try it out soon! but before i try it out, what kind of modifications did you do? also, the advanced tab has always been visible, the chipset tab however isn't.

@svl7: the G53JW comes with 460m.

Bunch of CPU overclocking options if you have an XM cpu. Give it a try, you tell me what's new.

The Chipset tab contains the memory settings and isn't always able to be unlocked and I'm guessing you still won't see it after the flash, but who knows :jaded:.

I had the g53 with the gtx 460m and I was able to increase the voltage with msi afterburner out of the box, I loved that card when it was new. It's pretty OC friendly in the g53 because of the 2 fans.

Voltage control is bios locked so I can't touch it. Also mine doesn't like to go over 750 core before crashing.

Not really too concerned but would really like to overclock the CPU alittle on all streams as opposed to what turbo core does. It's just not that easy to do.

Take your laptop apart and remove the blue pins from the connectors and force the fans to 100% then you can lock down the turbo mode at 3Ghz continuously and stay cool and stable at the same time...

Possibly, as it was never designed to be run with a XM CPU, it might still work though, at least it works fine in the G73JW / JH.

      I fiddled around with modding my laptops BIOS to unlock XMP profiles and hopefully seeing if optimus could be disabled. After flashing my modded bios and trying it out, I noticed that my keyboards backlight no longer turns on. I was unaware it requires an official BIOS to function. They backlights wont turn on unless ASUS ATK package is installed but now it seems it also needs an official BIOS?

      The modded ROM and tool I used if anyone has any experience with this and doesn't mind telling me what to enable/disable, or anything else i can do to re-enable them
