Recommended Posts

Hello Guy's it's a old thread I know, but I need help by flashing the moddified vbios of Asus 770m (G750JX) - 80.06.54.00.13 OC edition ... I am a newbie and the last flash process the I performed landed in a Brick :/ But I get a new Grahicscard from Asus after I sent him for repair :) I will arrived the "1000 Mhz mark", please who can I find a step by step tutorial for flashing with nvflash tool ? Thank's @ all :)

Nick6667 as long as you follow the tutorial you should be fine most of the time. I've actually flashed my GS60 with 860M kepler a few times and it's all good. However, the 860M VBios in the beginning of this thread didn't work for me. When flashing it told me that the Bios wasn't a match for my card. So once it tells you that it isn't a match you have the option of flashing the Bios or aborting. I aborted to be on the safe side and waiting for an answer to see what can be done.

Btw how are the temps on your GS60? As well as 3DMark Firestrike scores and peak temps. I'm curious because a lot of people have the GS60 but with the more powerful graphics options.

sideswipe78, I have tested in 3dmark 11 extreme and aida 64 (both CPU and GPU tests simultaneously). The temps are pretty low: less than 70 in 3d mark since there are only short tests, and 76 GPU/80 CPU (peak) in Aida after 30 minutes. I'm really worried about Vbios, because I have killed my GTX 780 Ti after 10-15 times of flashing. I think because I was doing it in windows and somehow something went wrong. Fortunately, there is a way to revive GPU on PC :)

Hi everybody!

Back in last December I got an Alienware 17 R1 with 880m and the 120Hz panel from dell.

I just discovered that some games and maps happens to slow down big time! Like from 80 to 110 fps in Payday2 to only 25 or 35 in some heavy maps.

Recently a friend told me that was because of throttling? and a custom vbios will fix that

My question is :

1-It is this vbios, by svl7, the only one besides stock: " CQFxDAQQDQoPCw4DzXPP0dPV19nbWNBaPSlbNUtjEl7bZRhxaTdiZhVXUmpJ20M6cTEbdnhoAQoUiRMI4gwSFCmLhids2CCYsXAQHDROBAiQobCiRziLPFqMCBJkx4psRoQgc8EKmDiBAAA7Nvidia GTX 880m - 'OC edition' - rev00.zip (130.6 KB, 624 views)" And it is this "rev00" the "only" revision he made of it?

2-His vbios dates from July 2014 and my notebook was purchased directly to dell in December 2014. Do you think that dell might have change/improved the vbios by that time?(I've attached a pic from my video card)

3-And finally it is safe? and do you recommend me to change the vbios being the system still on guarantee by dell?

Many thanks in advance!

Not quite sure if you can really kill your GPU unless you do an extreme mod

I think it happened because of some windows processes interference. Therefore I won't flash from windows anymore. Btw, what is the max safe voltage for 860m kepler? I think 1.2v should be alright as long as non-M versions of these cards works well with that voltage.

Does vBIOS Nvidia GTX 880m - 'OC edition' work in MSI GT70 2OD?

From first page:

"Nvidia GTX 880m (8GB version only):

  • 'OC edition' -> unlocked overclocking limits, voltage adjustable, power target adjustable, optimized performance at higher clocks
Can be used for all current 880m (Clevo, MSI and Dell)."

I was not sure whether this VBIOS will work in this particular model of MSI. Thanks for your reply.

Hi Klem I have an MSI GS60 with the kepler 860m in it. I tried to flash the vbios for the 860m in this page but it says that the vBios ID or whatever doesn't match my 860m's ID so I didn't press "y" to flash it as I wasn't sure it would work. Do you know if it will work because so far the vBios flashes I've done with the 860m, the ID always matched.

No, in the first page of this thread are placed vbios 860M for Dell card. But your laptop is MSI. I have done for you mod vbios for MSI 860M. Just flash it.

Hi, i downloaded 675M vBIOS package and flash my card in Clevo P150HM. No matter with vBIOS i flash i have problem with installation graphics driver. I modified inf file and it works but there is error when driver is installed. I have 580M, two 675M and with all it looks the same. Maybe because this are Dell cards?

BIOS in motherboard is the newest.

i got modified bios for 880m and i gotta say it looks very stable in terms of performance. With stock bios from clevo i was having stuttering in games with svl7 bios i'm having no issues in terms of stuttering. i tried some overclocks and they are working well too only problem are heat :/ my 880m with 1050 clock at full speed can go like 88/89/90ºc which is very bad... im using a nice cooler master to decrease temperatures but still i cant achieve good temperatures. any ideas of how to control better this temperatures ?

Have you repasted yet? If not then try that. The 880m is known to run too hot so you probably are not going to get any dramatic inprovement.

I went with Gelid Extreme on my GPU's and CPU to see around -2~3c at stock and around -5c when overclocked.

If you have already tried that then there is Liquid Metal Ultra (Coollaboratory*Liquid Ultra - top performance for High-End systems!). Seems to be about the best around ATM but is conductive and has a tricky application method. Watch the demo video before considering it. On a GPU you will have other components close and any tiny 'escapee' could produce a short :(

That would be great :). I thought about doing it surgeon style through a cut-out so nothing could get flicked on the circuit board...

For now i removed bottom cover and i have a cooler master pad under my laptop. My results were amazing i have 10c less on my gpu. Pretty good i would say :) maximum temperatures at full speed with clock at 1050 (default 993) and mem 6000 (default 5000,) are like 80/81c. I'm probably saying incorrectly the mem overclock because i overclocked +500 but shows like doubled in OSD.

Following the release of NVIDIAs new 436.02 driver which I mentioned in an earlier article here, I've decided to make a quick and dirty video showing off NVIDIAs new Sharpen filter which is part of their Game Filter feature. It works with the most popular APIs including DX 9, 11, 12 and Vulkan and can be set on a per-game basis with granular settings of 0-100 unlike AMDs RIS which is limited to Navi and lacks DX 11 support.

Well everyone...I have a confession to make-I flashed svl7 modified 970m vbios before I wiped my drivers! Everything seemed to run fine, I could game but noticed my clocks fluctuating a bit crazy. Figured I'd try a OC profile in afterburner while running a 27 27 26 26 clock in TS a bit stupid I know. Well 3d mark froze so I did a reboot...Black Screen on startup I heard windows boot so I feared I bricked my card. Tried external monitor..works fine. This is where my stupidity really hit the cosmos. I had another m15x 900p LCD laying around plugged that in. Worked fine back too overclocking bro! Well same thing happened. My profile was not overly crazy as I can remember. But I bricked another screen. Plugged in external monitor everything fine. I was using latest nvidia drivers 436.48 I believe. So I wiped drivers using DDU. Reflashed to stock clevo bios. Tried both LCD again still nothing. Installed old 7970m still nothing. Cleared CMos again nope. Reinstalled 970m with svl7 vbios with newest driver and been gaming on my external monitor. Have done some OC with inspector. Everything seems to work as it should. Temps and performance are great. Did I brick my monitors??? Never heard of this problem.

      Hello guys,
I have a GT72VR 6RE with G-sync MSI Laptop. Sadly the GPU is partially dead (artefacts all over the screen, crashes, windows detecting a damaged hardware etc...).

So I bought an other GTX1070 MXM on ebay, which was used in a Vortex G65 6RE before.
Sadly, when I plug the new GPU in the laptop, the laptop screen stays completly off, but i can use the HDMI port. So i though that I would just have to flash the vbios to the one I was using on the GPU that died, but I couldn't because of a mismatch betwen the PCI Device ID.
      The new GPU ID is : 10DE 1BA1 - 1462 11AF and the previous GPU ID was :10DE 1BE1 - 1462 11AF
Pretty close right? but the A1 and E1 variation are fcking everything up. I've read that 1BA1 is for non G-sync and 1BE1 is for G-sync. I've also read that the G-sync variation is not part of the card but is an external part no on the GPU board.

So now I'm wondering what can I do : is there a way to force the vbios flash or to change the PCI ID ? I really need some help here. I'm no expert and I've try as much as I could. Maybe I need to do some vbios editing but I don't really know how to do it and what to do exactly to make this work.

Thank you very much for your help guys

Well that didn't take long for NVIDIA to respond to Navi. The new 436.02 Game Ready Driver adds the following features:

      Game Ready
Provides increased performance and the optimal gaming experience for Apex Legends, Battlefield V, Forza Horizon 4, Strange Brigade, and World War Z
      Gaming Technology
Adds Beta support for GPU Integer Scaling Adds Beta support for Ultra-Low Latency Mode Adds support for new Freestyle Sharpen Filter Adds support for new G-SYNC compatible monitors Driver release notes: https://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/436.02/436.02-win10-win8-win7-release-notes.pdf

This isn't the old max pre-rendered frames setting, its supposedly a new improved algorithm that matches AMDs anti-lag feature for Navi.

Next up is support for integer scaling which Intel recently announced but it seems NVIDIA beat everyone to the punch. Unfortunately, this is only for Turing for now:

Additionally NVIDIA has created a new filter for FreeStyle simply called "Sharpen" which improves performance and visual clarity that is supposed to be on par with RSI but with much broader support and granular adjustment. According to Eurogamer, "They also point out that the amount of sharpening can be adjusted from 0 to 100 per cent, applied on a per-game basis and works with games across all major graphics APIs: DX9, DX11, DX12 and Vulkan".

Finally, the driver brings with it some game performance improvement, including very popular titles like Apex Legends which sees up to 23% boost at 1080p:

Overall a pretty solid release, it had some issues earlier when it was released with GeForce Experience being force installed but it should be remedied by now.
