NVIDIA Kepler VBIOS mods - Overclocking Editions, modified clocks, voltage tweaks

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm still looking for a 780M mod. The one on this thread didn't work out for me. Probably not compatible with MSI or something.

sorry if it is not so smart question, but Is there laptop adapter higher than 330W (other than combining with converter box from clevo)

Not that I've seen, but I've never gone looking though.

I just got myself the brand-new Acer VN7-791G with a GTX860M

Any Chance of discovering if the system bios is modifiable? (nvflash indicated that it's part of the system bios)

It seems that running the vbios GTX 870m OC Edition breaks the ability to run any games on battery as the driver just simply crashes. Is there a fix for this?

For what it's worth I've heard this a couple of times on this thread regarding 8xx modified vBIOS on here, but don't know if it affects everyone. (no fix to my knowledge bar plugging it in!)

I've reflashed the stock bios and it works on battery as expected but I've also noticed it was highly underclocked(Battery limits). My guess is that the modified vbios doesn't lower the clocks in order to work on battery too.

I've just bought gtx 780M for my MSI notebook. Model is GT70-0nd. In the first place there was a 675M installed, but it got corrupted. So now i decided to use 780M instead. Installation went great, system shows my videocard, drivers a correct also, everything should be fine< BUT, GPU core clock is only 80Mhz and card perfomance is very low. Whats that?

Im using 64x win8

Put here backup of your bios.

Without any custom tool there seems to be no way.

This model has just been released and there is no bios or biostool downloadable from Acer

Im wondering If 780M is stable or not? Should I try to overclock it eventually, or this may cause damage to videocard?

Does anyone know max power consumtion of Geforce GTX 770m with the OC-vBIOS... more or less?

Power = Current X Volt

You can use Evga Precision X to get Max Power Consumption & operating Volt.

Thx for your reply...

But I've a weird problem with my MSI GT680.

I've buyed a used NVIDIA Geforce GTX 770M pulled from MSI Laptop from Mokkin. But I've a strange problem. The card is running at VGA Mode in Windows 7 64bit. As you can see GPUZ is showing that the firmware is 80.06.46.00.01. I expected firmware 80.06.54.00.11. When i tried to search for a driver on NVIDIA.com, it recommends pls go for driver from subvendor. So i tried to flash via usb nvflash the 80.06.54.00.11 Bios, but there is a failure " No NVIDIA display adapter found". With NVflash --list it's the same. Why doesn't nvflash find the adapter? Perhaps it is a Bios problem... my version is 3.0Z?

edit: I'm a little more confused now... because subvendor 1008 is EPSON (http://www.pcidatabase.com/vendors.php?sort=id) and not MSI? Is there a chance to get it work in my laptop or should i try to change the card?

edit: ok i'm near to solve this... it depends on the version of nvflash... 5.117 is to old but detects the card, 5.165 doesn't work at all

last edit :-))) nvflash 5.136 works.

  • Thumbs Up 1

Thanks for the advice!

However I decided to return the laptop, because of display issues.

Thanks for the modded 880m Vbios! Finally fixed that throttling issue :72:.

Sucks that the 3D screen option will not work on the older AW models but its alright. Baby steps.

Keep up the good work :Banane09:

HI guys, i've an Asus g750jh with GTX780M and i tried to unlock, flashing bios with the modded bios on this site in overclock thread. Now in nvidia inspector i can overclock gpu clock to 1008Mhz but clock memory can't overclock, returning at default clock (5000) when try to do it and lag in game persist. If you have any sort of solution i would be grateful! Thank you!

Does using the 880m 8gb vbios mod avoid the nvidia flag? (which downclok the gpu after few crashes)

I'm using 337.88 drivers.

I have tried to update nvidia drivers of my notebook ge72vr6rf apache pro. The only drivers that works are the ones provided by the msi. The problem is that they haven't updated those since 2016 and I can't play newer games.

Some say you need to mod your 1060 drivers, which I have no idea how to some says you need to update the flags in ini files. So please help me

      Thanks for your time.

Hello, I've got a Dell Precision M4700 with a 3940xm. I've read that in this particular CPU and laptop model, the bios is locked because the stock settings are considered an overclock. As-is, the core temps on the CPU do reach up to 90-100. They seem to spike up and down a bit when benchmarked with Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility, but they certainly do reach over 90C. Is there no way to unlock this bios (version a18, though a19 is released - I haven't updated yet, should I?) and even if there were, would my only option be a heatsink mod on top of that?

edit: I've mistakenly posted this under Desktop & General Hardware, perhaps a mod could move or delete the thread? Apologies!

Hello, I've got a Quadro M2200 (GPU: GM206GL-A Revision A1, and MxM 3.0a Maxwell card) with the following bios: 84.06.76.00.1C

I've read that this card is very similar to the GTX 965m, but that it has been underclocked considerably. It seems to be a good candidate for unlocking since I hardly see the temperature exceed 70C as-is. I'm requesting help with this - I'm not sure if it's possible to simply flash the vbios from a Dell GTX 965m (MxM 3.0a) or if some type of edit of the card's current vbios would do the trick. I'm hoping someone could help me out with the specifics of doing such an edit if that's the case.

      Thanks!
