This is my first question. Hope it has not been answered.

If I'm to unlock the Bios, can the Lenovo IdeaPad 500 be connected to an external powerful GPU?

My laptop came equipped with 2 Nvidia GT 750 one soldered to the Intel Graphic  card and the second one removable.

Hi!

Unfortunately i don't know if unlocked bios can help you with connecting to an external powerful GPU. But you can try it. You can send me your file backup of bios, then i will unlock Lenovo whitelist, and unlock additional hidden settings, then you can check if it help you.

Hello there,

I am new to this forum.

I have a lenovo g500 and want to unlock the bios.

I did run the test and here are the results.

What I want is to disable intel boost and set the clock manually as well as possibly figuring out the best undervoltage for the specifi cpu (i5-3230M)

It is a crappy computer, but I still want to get a bit more juice out of it.

Also, I have a very bad gpu (intel hd graphics 4000) but still would like to access its settings (not the intel standard menu), and XTU will not access it.

Finally, my hard drive is underperforming by a lot ( Seagate Momentus Thin 5400, 9, 2.5'' 500GB) and I was wondering if you could think of anything I could do beyond replacing it

Let me know if you need more info about the bios version and such, or you already gather all that from the rar file.

THanks a bunch,

Konos Vita

p.s. tried to attach the file but it's 2.17 Mb and I am only allowed up to 1024k apparently

Hi!

Unfortunately unlocked bios don't help in your case.  I recommend you to create new thread where you can ask about more juice for your laptop.

Oh that's too bad then. I suppose you got this from the results right? I will create another thread, but truth be told if I cannot access the cpu clock, there's not much I can do beyond that, having the latest bios et al. But thanks anyway!

Note: This thread is no longer updated. You can find the latest info HERE.

Notice: Make sure you have downloaded the correct Mod for your specific model and that the laptop's or a UPS battery backup is present during the update process.

Disclaimer: I do not hold any responsibility for any problems that may occur by using the mods in a wrong way. Remember that you flash these at your own risk. I have personally tested the W25xHNx mod. Since the laptops mentioned here are of the same series and thus almost identical, you shouldn't face any problems with the rest of them. The same changes were made to all models after ensuring that their stock counterparts are identical to the tested W25xHNx laptop.

Note: All mods contain both the Modded and Stock BIOS image files so that you can go back in case you want to. Use Mod.bat or Stock.bat at a DOS environment respectively. Check the Flashing Guide below for detailed instructions.

Which one of the above is the official website dedicated to Prema BIOS mod and why they all seem dead? Including the last one - according to TechInferno, Prema's last visit here was on Dec 2, 2016. Is Prema long done with creating custom firmware?

      Hello!

I think I have a Clevo W942SW rebranded as a Positivo Master N250i in Brazil. I'm pretty sure it's a Clevo W942SW because even some Clevo manuals about this model carries the "POSITIVO" brand in pictures. And everything else matches perfectly, as I could perceive.

Well, it has a "Aptio 4" BIOS from what I could see, and the stock BIOS is pretty damn locked up

Here's what it looks like from the AFUWIN program:

And here's the BIOS dump, I think:
      https://www.sendspace.com/file/zp0ywq

Any information would be very nice about if it's possible to unlock/mod this or not.
      Thanks!

      Hello everyone!

I have been going all over internet (well ok, let's not exaggerate) trying to find how to unlock the bios on an old Lenovo G500 with an i5-3230M processor.
I did try to check if there is any updated bios but that's not the case.
I also tried using Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility but it looks like I am locked out of any changes.
I would love to disable Intel boost (3.2 Mhz) and set my actual frequency beyond 2.6Mhz where it stands now and raise it to (say) 2.9 Mhz and see if the stress tests allow for that (temperature-wise).
Also, I would like to try some gradual undervoltage (if any of you have managed something in this regard, I would love it if you could share the details).

Beyond that, I have a crappy Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU and I am almost certain I cannot get anythin more from it, but still would love any tips (if any, which I doubt tbh).

Finally, I have added two 4 Gb Gskillz DDR3 and I was wondering if there is any point of changing their clock frequencies.

By the way, this is my first post here, so I am eagerly awaiting to see what this community is all about!

      Cheers,
      Konos Vita
