Hey there! I'm so glad to find this forum! I'm happy there's someone like you out there helping frustrated lenovo laptop owners. Can I have my bios unlocked too please? I have a Lenovo z710 with BIOS version 7FCN96WW. I'm sending you the results along with the BIOS setup file I used to upgrade to... Please unlock everything you can. I want to be able to control fan speed and raise the thermal throttle limit... Thanks in advance.

SecurAble utility show that virtualization already enabled.

Are you sure that Intel (VMX) Virtualization Technology disabled in bios?

If you sure, then

Download this tool: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4NHIBM...RtQXM/view
Extract the archive H2OUVE.rar directly on the Desktop and copy the H2OUVE folder directly on the disk C:\

Then run the Command prompt as Administrator and execute these commands:

cd  \

cd  H2OUVE

H2OUVE.exe   -gv   vars.txt

After each command press the Enter button.

After that, you'll have the file "vars.txt" in H2OUVE folder.
Post here this file "vars.txt" or upload it to any fileserver and  send me the link.

Download and extract archive vars_mod.rar

Then you need to put the vars_mod.txt  file in the folder with the H2OUVE.exe file and execute the following command in an Administrative Command Prompt in that folder:

H2OUVE.exe  -sv  vars_mod.txt

H2OUVE will update the NVRAM area of the BIOS and after a reboot the new setting should be active.
This will only enable Intel (VMX) Virtualization Technology and not mess with any of the other settings of your BIOS.
In case you want to revert to default, you can go back to default with the following command:

H2OUVE.exe  -sv  vars.txt

thanks so much. Now the virtualization is active.

Hello everyone :) Could I also get a whitelist-free BIOS for Z510?

If it is OK I have one question before I post dump files. In general, sometimes it is recommended to have the latest BIOS version installed. But sometimes latest versions are better to be avoided, as they are harder to work with, use additional protection, or sometimes introduce some kinds of problems. My current version is 8DCN37WW, and the latest version is 8DCN40WW.

The question is - is it OK to upgrade, then dump files and modify the latest BIOS (v40), or is it better to keep my current version (v37), dump it and modify it? Are there any good reasons not to upgrade to the latest version before modding?

Thanks :)

Hi!

In your case bios version doesn't matter for unlock. You can update your bios to any new version from Lenovo website and then we can unlock it.

Thank You for the mod and very detailed instructions. Flashing was successful, new BIOS options appeared. Didn't check new wireless card yet, but I will in the next few days, when I get it.

Once again - big thanks.
