[Alienware - Clevo - MSI] Aftermarket Upgrades Driver Support - Modded INF

J95

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I need some help.

I recently installed Windows 10 Insider preview (Build 10162) to test out 3DMark's DX 12 bench.

However After installing drivers (I tried J95's 353.38 and 352.84) on my 980M, if I do a full reboot (shut down->startup again) I get either a blank display or flashing artifacts with no hint of a proper image being rendered.

Strangely enough, everything is fine and dandy as long as I don't fully power off after installing drivers (Even the reboot option in Windows works fine since power is never cut).

I was wondering if anybody experienced anything similar before, and has any tips. I know this is a niche problem right now but with the proper release of Windows 10 a few weeks away I'm rather worried about compatibility.

Run DDU, disable driver signing. Reinstall v353.38, just keep these subfolders, delete the rest.

thank you for replying this fast , i should only use nvcvi.inf Optimus ? because currently i dont have dedicated

Yep nvcvi.inf. v353.45 optimus mode only, dedicated will result in severe throttling.

Flash @Prema's vBIOS mod (consider donating to him).

@J95, I flash Premamod Vbios, and if you still need it, here my results:

@All *FW development* @Prema's Mods, I need 9xxMs ASIC quality readings, in addition to 3D voltage* on stock vBIOS. SLI systems please include both cards...;)

Thank you.

Hi Brother @J95. Was something missing from what I provided to you already, or you have what you need? Just checking to be sure.

Oh goodie! I don't need a new driver for 980M SLI in my Clevo, but I sure do hope this fixes the 780M SLI driver-induced throttling problem in my M18xR2. Thank for posting this, bud. Appreciate it.

sorry if i am asking you too many questions , but do i have to do this flashing bios or its ok to just uninstall the old driver and install a new one ? or this bios really makes a big difference ?

flashing prema's or svl7's vBIOS mod only allows you to overclock the 980M. the modded drivers are only to allow drivers to be installed.

it's recommended you flash in optimus mode and disable the nvidia GPU before flashing. i find dedicated mode to be the best as you get more features like adaptive vsync and you get more system memory back.

can you clear these features for me

like how to i flash in optimus mode ? and optimus mode is not better the dedicated ?

i use a lot of rendering and designing programs and i do some gaming , so this is pretty confusing to me XD

look at your nvidia control panel, you'll see it's lacking in settings because you're running in optimus mode, if you select fn+F5 to go into dedicated mode you'll see more features in nvidia control panel.

@J95 hope this is correct and of some help! :)

twin snakes, @tony7755333, @haXBOXpro please disable SLI and run each card at a time...or secondary GPU.

Mr. Fox Due to voltage throttling VDDC/3D readings weren't accurate, please repeat the GPU-Z render test, both cards. Like above run each card at a time.

Thx

Forgot to show my values. This is a card I got from HIDevolution in January.

I do not get the cards I sell from them. Nor do I endorse or recommend HIDevolution.

I get my cards from Eurocom (Except the first one I got, which I am using) If any of that helps.

It has stock vBios on. This is windows 10162. using the 353.xx drivers.
