Unlocking Chipset Menu in AMI Aptio V Bios?

Recommended Posts

I've been working on this for a while and I just can't seem to figure it out and wanted to ask around if anyone knew or have an idea of how this worked.

So AMI Aptio IV Bios - uses the boolean array 0101000101 to unlock the Chipset Menu.

However AMI Aptio V Bios is completely different; extracting the setup module shows an entirely different format.

I managed to find this which I believe may have something to do with the Chipset Menu being hidden; Using UEFIExtract on Setup module.

0x15E54 Suppress If: {0A 82}
0x15E56 True {46 02}
0x15E58 Ref: Chipset, Variable: 0xFFFF {0F 0F 20 00 02 00 03 00 00 00 FF FF 00 13 27}
0x15E67 End If {29 02}

--- I changed it to ------

0x15E54 Suppress If: {0A 82}
0x15E56 False {47 02}
0x15E58 Ref: Chipset, Variable: 0xFFFF {0F 0F 20 00 02 00 03 00 00 00 FF FF 00 13 27}
0x15E67 End If {29 02}

Once I made the changes I flashed the modified BIOS and the Chipset Menu is still hidden. I've ran out of ideas and was hoping someone would perhaps know something that may help. I've used AMIBCPv5 to set all menus to USER so that I can unlock the hidden options which worked great but now I can't get the Chipset Menu tab to show up in BIOS. Any ideas?

This is on an Asus G752VL -- Bios can be downloaded from Asus support page; if someone wants to take a look and get some ideas;  https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/833/0/1/R7OU0ay4MTR8jpC8/45/

Hi. If you extract the SETUP with UEFITOOL and open with HxD Editor you will notice that the CHIPSET menu was deleted and replaced with 000000000000000000000000000000.

If you send me your dump bios, I can do it for you :whistle:

Hi,

I also wanted to unlock the chipset menu of my ASUS UX501VW BIOS (v304) but I'm not sure which is the right code within the extracted from my BIOS image via the UEFITool..

But the form id is already within module and I'm kinda hesitant to insert anything else..

Never mind, grasped how it works and I just added the correct for the chipset tab for my UX501VW.

Dear friends, can you please unlock the "chipset" menu for my rom (and also the 2nd "advanced" menu if possibe)? I've already tried my chance to change the visibility attributes from "Default" to "User" with no avail :(

It is an AMI Aptio BIOS which can be opened by AMIBCP v4.5 and is for a VAIO VPC-F227FX laptop.
