Guess we needed one of these too. I've had my M17x-R3 on order since March 7th (went into production March 8th) and when I call the order status line, it tells me my system already shipped on March 28th (I guess I must have dialed into the future via a black hole at Dell HQ) and I should expect it by March 30th.

From Michael:

For all of you who want to call in and check for the status, here's a shortcut for your phone :

18002543692,,2,1,ORDERNUMBER,,,,,,,ORDERNUMBER

Mine's the same. :( Folks over on NBR say to expect it later this week, as Dell's turnaround is supposedly 10days tops. I hope this turns out to be true, mang.

Damn, what? Is this through dell order status page, or over the phone? Wonder why mine still says 3/30 and In Production.... they must be screwing me over cuz I ordered through aafes, or cuz I had been calling so much.

I'll join in.

Ordered on 03/19, still In Production.

Specs : Stealth Black, 2630QM, 8GB, 6970M

I understand that Dell's turnaround time is about a week, 10 days tops, so i am expecting it until the end of the month.

If their turnaround time is about a week, 10 days tops, then they're LATE for me, and alot of others... I shall be phoning them tomorrow. What types of questions do you think I should be asking?

Well, what's their eta saying on the order status page? If it's still within the ETA there is really nothing you can say.

I remember the crazy delays there were with the R2 and how they bumped the eta for a week each time. It that will be the case then you can complain and get compensations.

But until they change the original eta there isn't anything you can do.

Not sure you guys are aware of this.. remember the backdoor number to get your real order status back when we were ordering the R2s?

well the old number doesn't work anymore but if you call

1-800-ALIENWA (1-800-2543692) then, 2 ,1 it'll ask you to enter your order number and then it'll redirect you to another place, where it'll ask you to enter your order number again (WTF?) and finally you'll get that detailed status.

Mine says "Build Stage"....

Welcome to the T|I forum wbabt007! Initially the turn around time was about 1 week or less but I guess since word got out about the M17x-R3, demand has skyrocketed and now wait times are exceedingly long. Michael has been waiting over two weeks for his and it's still in production! I was fortunate enough to receive my R3 fairly quick (1 week).

Thank you for such a warm welcome, I guess I will not resort to "take me to your leader" bit. A little background this will be my 2nd M17, i need to find out if 1st one is R1 or R2, any advice on that?

Oh and question, how do I make my signature show? I uploaded a pic, is showing in my settings but not in my posts.

The M17x-R2 was based on the Intel i7 architecture (PM55 chipset) and offered ATi 5870m as an option + RGB LED. If you had any of those, it was an R2. For signatures, it's all text based for registered users. You may however upload your own avatar.

Because of several issues with my r3, Dell support offered me 2 choices:

1. Exchange

2. Return for complete refund of original purchase price + 20% discount on re-order

(I obviously picked the 2nd option)

I finally got to re-order my slightly upgraded r3 today

317-6114 1 Intel Core i7 2720QM 2.2GHz (3.3GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
320-1939 1 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6970M
320-1933 1 17.3-inch WideFHD1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED
318-0395 1 Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

returned system: 2630QM, 460M, 1080p 60Hz, DVD

Would have gone with M14x if it were slated to offer a different GPU.

chipset

soft-touch rubbing off / peeling @ all corners (probably from using the cloth cover that comes with the system)

bsod @ startup if anything plugged into usb 2.0 ports

460m hardware issues

460m driver issues + BSODs + optimus terrible-ness

Dent in LCD cover (plexi glass)

several white imperfections in LCD cover

media bar popped up @right side

etc....

Also already got $800 refunded from original purchase price, so this new r3 is technically discounted 49% from website price.

took the time to actually calculate discount: roughly 49%!

I think thats a good price sorry for the problems you having with the system. Maybe there are more dependable drivers that may resolve your bsod trouble.

Apparently the current shipment of chassis has a defect and are not up to standard, according to my rep. My EDD was tomorrow, and was supposed to ship out today. Apparently, my new EDD is 5/12. This kinda BLOWS.

That does suck. The R3 I have is in perfect condition, probably one of the first AW's I received that had no issues apart from my recent R2.
