Are new macOS Nvida drivers a forgone conclusion?

Hello, brand new and wrapping my head around ordering and getting started with an Akitio Thunder2 for my rMBP Mid 2014, likely with a EVGA 1070. I understand that currently lack of drivers means this thing is a paperweight while I'm booted in macOS. Given Nvidia support to date, can we expect 10 series drivers to appear eventually, or is that debatable?

Thanks for your time!

I want upgrade my rMBP with Akitio and GTX1070 too. I just notice that Nvidia release the CUDA 8.0 toolkit which support Pascal architecture, the toolkit support OS X, maybe Nvidia has not abandoned the Mac platform.  So I guess Nvidia may release the driver after Apple launch the new macOS on September or  October, just guess ;)
