runix18
Hi. I was wondering if it's posible to enable Igpu on a clevo p870dm-g with sli gtx 970m. I understand that because of g-sync the Igpu does not work, but is there any way for it to be disabled in all day to day use (browsing, music, etc to use the intel gpu) and to be only enabled in full screen app's along side the gtx970m sli? thank you. Spellbound
Not possible. It would require a MUX switch to use the iGPU or dGPUs.
D2ultima
1 - You seem to be looking for Optimus. I don't understand why you would be considering that with such a machine, but either way, Optimus does not support multi-GPU. Even if you were on a mobile chipset. Either iGPU only or dGPU only with SLI. The only machines ever to offer the switchable capabilities were the Alienwares M18x R1, M18x R2 and AW18. 2 - Even if you DID have a MUX switch with such capability to go between dGPU and iGPU only, you would require a reboot every single time you switched the GPU, as Windows cannot support changing of the primary graphics adapter without crashing, because Microsoft sucks. 3 - The clevo machines, MUX switch or no, have the iGPU completely disabled. It's a thing I wish they would change; I would rather the iGPU be on (not attached to anything) allowing for hardware acceleration on it to take place (quicksync based recorders or encoders, browser acceleration using iGPU, etc), or at most have a MUX switch since Skylake iGPUs should be capable of using higher refresh rates. But until they do you're out of luck.
Guest
I enabled it for a Linux dev, who didn't care that it wasn't connected, but after all he couldn't put it to any actual use...

So even turning it on doesn't allow hardware acceleration using it?

I had an Alienware Mx17 R4 and that indeed had Optimus (even though alot of people prefered to put the vga mode on PEG), Optimus was realy helpfull in terms of batery economy and leting the dGpu breathe when only browsing was envolved for example. For the Alienware was easy once u had the unlocked bios on it (credits to svl7) and I thought that it would be the same for the p870dm-g (just set the VGA mode in bios). Too bad I bought this laptop from UK and cannot have access yet to the unlocked Prema bios for this machine :(. (hope soon ) If it is any solution to the Igpu disabling please someone share it with us. I would realy like Optimus on Clevo P870dm-g
Guest
It is physically not connected at all. Once enabled all screen outputs go black.
D2ultima
I already told you that SLI + optimus is impossible. Even if you could connect it somehow you'd need a MUX switch to go from iGPU-only to dGPU-only and it would require a reboot.
