Asetek is a well known brand in the desktop world for creating robust cooling solutions. However, on the notebook side, their presence along with other third party cooling solution providers is non-existent.
However, that may all change with Asetek demonstrating their new prototype liquid cooling design for high performance notebooks and all-in-one PCs.
Asetek’s new cooling soution uses an interconnected thermal management design where all the heatpipes in the system are connected. This enhances cooling by allowing heat to be transferred from high use components (e.g. CPU during rendering) to ones that aren’t as heavily used like a GPU heatsink or vice versa.
With liquid cooling there’s also the added benefit of having a quieter running system since the fans do not have to operate at high RPMs in order to provide sufficient cooling.
We’re hoping OEMs like Dell take notice and incorporate this design into the M18x and future Alienware notebooks. As enthusiasts, this is the type of cooling solution we have all been craving.
