OCZ Revodrive Hybrid SSD hard drive

OCZ displayed their new storage device dubbed RevoDrive Hybrid. The drive is a hybrid of  Solid State drive and Platter hard drive technology combined to fit on a PCI Express x4 card. The unit’s hard drive uses the SSD portion as it’s disk cache.

The decision of using 5,400 rpm or 7,200rpm hard drives is yet to be determined. More than likely this RevoDrive Hybrid will come in two models, a 500Gb hard drive with 60Gb SSD or a 1TB hard drive with a 120Gb SSD attached.

OCZ has integrated Nvelo’s Dataplex software which yields better performance on PCMark Vantage benchmark over Intel’s new Smart Response caching technology. RevoDrive Hybrid will be able to reach a comfortably fast 575Mbps read speeds and 500Mbps write speeds.

We can expect the drive to hit the marketplace in July and the base config of a 60GB SSD and 500GB hard drive will cost about $350.
