Sharp in collaboration with NHK broadcasting company created a 33 Megapixel Direct-View LCD compatible with Super Hi-Vision. This 85-inch TV boasts 7680 x 4320 pixels, a resolution which is double the horizontal resolution of 1080P or 16 times the resolution of current HDTV. The display via Sharps Aquos display technology and UV²A sports a 10bit color depth at 60hz.
Those lucky enough to have been in Tokyo between May 26 and May 29 were able to see the set working at NHK’s Laboratories.
