Roccat Pyra

Roccat Pyra with LED

Today I am reviewing the latest peripheral to hit my collection – the Roccat Pyra.

This is a special breed of mouse, almost a triple hybrid really: It’s a mobile/notebook mouse, a wireless mouse and a gaming mouse. Do I sound like Steve Jobs yet?

The packaging is impressive

I normally have trepidations about such combinations as they usually fail in one or more areas. But what about the Pyra?

Looks good but the fact it doesn’t have a hardware/software implementation to control the mouse’s DPI (not using Windows settings) is kind of disappointing.

Sounds like it would be the perfect mouse for me…If not for that issue. Windows DPI never feels right, I keep my wired Logitech G5 mouse at around 1800-2200 dpi (forgot the exact number), trying to imitate that on Windows without the “hardware” acceleration the mouse provides is impossible.

It does have hardware DPI control, it is merely “pointer acceleration” that is lacking.

Pointer acceleration is a different setting that not many mice have, and is mainly for graphic art.

Hi John, have you changed the blue light to something else. Because i would like yo change it too.
Can you tell me how to disassemble the mouse to change it?
    Thanks.
